Caring for your countertop

The kitchen tops are working countertops use for preparing food. For this reason, countertops are subjected to aggressive factors such as: physical (abrasive factors) or chemical (corrosive factors). Based on the nature of these aggressive factors, a countertop surface can be somewhat influenced, which ultimately lead to deterioration. So, we recommend treatment and aftercare for your countertop, based on the type of natural stone and usage. Basically, surface treatment involves two maine stages:

 

1. Cleaning with CareKit Stoneclean or Grimex

2. Waterproofing with CareKit Stoneseal or Mattstone, Mattstone H2O, Stone Oil, MPG, Grout & Tile Protector, Colour Intensifier, Blackstone 

               

Instructions for countertop aftercare  

1. avoid containers with acidic substances, placed directly over countertop

2. always use protective pads for hot objects

3. never use powders / creams for cleaning stone countertones, because are abrasive and might scratch the surface. Avoid sharp objects near countertop surface.

4. never deposit metal pots over the stone surfaces for avoiding the risk of rust stains

5. wipe immediately drops of water or aggressive agents – water and corrosive agents will not leave stains if wiped clean immediately from the surface. If you want to clean any type of drops do not wipe surface, but add warm water and clean surface with detergents such as: CareKit Stonecare or StoneWash, Multiclean.

Mouldex is recommended for cleaning deposits of algae, moss, mold over granite countertops in wet spaces.

6. Rinse surface with fresh water after washing with detergent (several times and refresh water) and dry it by rubbing it with a dry cloth – never allow water to bloat on natural stone.

7. Use ClearWax for aftercare  

8. For removing stains from countertop surface, never use improvised solutions; better contact PIATRAONLINE for expert advice

9. Be careful about using cleaning solutions from supermarket, because usually these are not professional.

 

The factors that develop corrosive stains over natural stone countertops

• food acids: lemon juice, fruit juices, ketchup, vinegar, red wine, mustard, tomato juice, beer, white wine, acid rain

• nonspecific commercial detergents and descalers

• specific cosmetic products
